What does Landsvirkjun Power do?

Landsvirkjun Power will combine in a single company expertise in the fields of business development, project management and related expertise concerning geothermal and hydroelectric power plants and electricity transmission systems both in Iceland and abroad. Our aim is, furthermore, to seek and take part in investment projects in Iceland and abroad.

Our purpose is to supervise the planning and construction of new power plants for Landsvirkjun, and we have acquired Landsvirkjun's holdings in subsidiaries and associated companies relating to consultancy and investment projects abroad.

Landsvirkjun will own and be responsible for the proposed new power plants in the River Thjórsá and in North-east Iceland. Landsvirkjun Power will see to the preparatory work, design and construction of these installations, which will be projects performed for Landsvirkjun.

Our Business Development Unit oversees profit and risk assessment analyses relating to the new installations. We also oversee financial structuring and investment, contract issues and the operation of companies abroad.
