Research and Planning

Landsvirkjun Power carries out intensive environmental research relating to the planning, construction and operation of hydroelectric and geothermal power stations.

We oversee the preparation and implementation of basic research relating to proposed power plants. In addition, our research program involves dam safety monitoring, hydrological and land surveying, the creation and storage of geographical information data and other environmental monitoring. Our research covers a number of fields, including ecosystems, water and weather systems, glaciers and geology.

We have a number of environmental research experts who are involved in all phases of the process of planning and constructing installations. In addition, we work and cooperate with a large number of scientists, companies and institutions in Iceland and abroad in their research and subsequent analyses.
